5 Street-Style Trends I’m Copying From Copenhagen Fashion Week

Copenhagen Fashion Week has officially wrapped, but I’m just starting to dive into everything I saw—including the city’s definitive, influential street style. This was my first time attending, and the crowds didn’t disappoint. After years spent parsing countless images and TikToks of these well-dressed women, I finally got to see the magic with my own eyes. It’s true: The Scandi girls really are having more fun.

The year’s biggest fashion trends, including capri pants, elevated workwear, and polka dots, were all well represented—but here in Copenhagen its how these trends are styled that’s particularly inspiring to me. On the streets I saw so many women taking fairly simple pieces and mixing them in ways that felt not only refreshing, but distinctly unique. In order to give you a sense of the local flavor (and predict where we’re going this fall and next spring), I pulled together the popular street-style moments that I saved to my Pinterest board for later. From plain flip-flops to romantic lace, these are the Copenhagen Fashion Week trends I’m most excited to try.

1. Who needs a belt?

No matter where I looked last week, someone had something tied around their waist. Sheer skirts, crocheted sarongs, silk scarves, vintage aprons, button-down shirts, even rope—anything with the ability to be knotted was layered over slim pants, wide-leg jeans, or flowy skirts. (Closer to home, Lola Tung is also a fan, it should be noted.) If you’re in the market for a scarf, I kept seeing ones from the buzzy Scandinavian brand Toteme, but don’t be afraid to get creative with whatever you have lying around at home (or already in your cart).

2. Elevating humble flip-flops
