Scarlett Johansson Traded Her Waves for a Short Curly Bob

Scarlett Johansson Traded Her Waves for a Short Curly Bob

Key Takeaways

  • Scarlett Johansson wore a curly blonde bob on the set of her new movie, Paper Tiger.
  • The ’80s-inspired hairstyle was paired with an appropriate wardrobe and featured big curls and plenty of volume.

Who has a bob this summer? Well, everyone, it seems. But no one is doing it like Scarlett Johansson! Except maybe the cast of Smash on Broadway? And Gigi Hadid. And Pamela Anderson post-2025 Met Gala.

Earlier this week, ScarJo was spotted sporting a new hairstyle—a vintage-inspired blonde curly bob—while filming her new movie Paper Tiger in New York. She stars alongside Adam Driver in the upcoming crime thriller, which is about two brothers who “pursue the American Dream but get entangled in a dangerous Russian mafia scheme that terrorizes their family.”

Johansson doesn’t play one of the brothers (I think they gave the role to Miles Teller?), but whoever her character is has fabulous hair. And for that, I will be tuning in.

Falling right at chin length like any classic bob should, Johansson’s hair was dyed a bright honey-blonde shade and worked into bouncy curls all over her head. They’re the kind of curls that look like they took some meticulous hot roller time to configure; if you left the salon with this style and it was raining out, you’d have to wear a cap.

The voluminous hairdo featured a short side part toward the front to show off some darker roots, with less structure in the back. The on-set stylist paired it with a period piece-chic ’80s wardrobe, gigantic glasses and sweater shirts included.

Scarlett Johansson’s Off-Set Hair

On a normal day, Johansson’s strands feature a similar honey blonde shade. But instead of coming in at chin length, you can usually find them cascading down her back. The last time she had a bob of her own was 2018, when she was growing out her pixie cut.

That’s the magic of the movies, though—and the fun of being a celebrity. Sure, you can have a perfect vintage curly blonde bob today! And even if it’s not “real,” the world might follow suit.
