Lana Del Rey’s Latest Hairstyle Straight Out of “Video Games”

Lana Del Rey's Latest Hairstyle Straight Out of "Video Games"

Key Takeaways

  • Lana Del Rey wore a baby beehive for her first stadium show in the UK.
  • The retro hairstyle was more reminiscent of its wearer’s early career than its actual history.

Where were you when you first heard/saw Lana Del Rey? I don’t remember, honestly. But I do remember seeing the “Video Games” music video after its 2011 upload, putting it on repeat, and never taking it off. The actual, physical place I was in didn’t matter. I was in Lana’s world, which we all know defies the decades.

On Monday, June 23, the artist took the stage in Cardiff, Wales. For the performance, which took place just days after her 40th birthday (remember when we realized she was a cancer instead of a gemini?), she wore a retro blue dress that was so Betty Draper and styled her hair in a way that was so… Lana Del Rey.

I know that Lana Del Rey didn’t invent the baby beehive, but the fact that I saw a picture of her at the show and thought “she looks like herself” instead of “she looks like Priscilla Presley” is telling.

Celebrity hairstylist Anna Cofone was on hand with a kit of Authentic Beauty Concept products to get those long brown sugar brunette locks ready for the spotlight. For the final look, the singer’s soft, slightly waved strands were worn down and tucked behind her shoulders. The crown of her head featured the babiest of baby beehives, with a healthy amount of hair left out and middle parted out front to frame her face.

Lana Del Rey’s Makeup

The makeup, done by Pamela Cochrane, was also 2011 Lana-esque. Besides a nude lip and sweet glow, the most notable feature was her softly smudged cat eye.

And yes, she sang “Video Games” during her set. We always come back to the classics.
