The 12 Best Hair-Straightening Brushes of 2025, According to Experts

The 12 Best Hair-Straightening Brushes of 2025, According to Experts

Innovation in the beauty space is a constant, and one of our favorite new age products is the hair-straightening brush. Gone are the days of balancing a hair dryer in one hand and a brush in the other to achieve a sleek blowout. “Hair-straightening brushes offer a smoother navigation through various hair strand textures. The closeness and small size of the bristles can make stretching strands much easier than that of flat irons,” says Darrius Peace, a haircare expert and salon owner.

We researched many of today’s best hair-straightening brushes and got expert insights, narrowing them down to those that deliver salon-level results with standout features, such as adjustable heat levels, ceramic plates, detangling bristles, and ionic technology.

What We Like

  • Seals and smooths strands

  • Sleek, salon-like results

  • Can cut down on styling time

Max Temp: 450 F | Features: Ionic technology, adjustable temp, auto shut-off

This TikTok-viral hair-straightening brush is like having an at-home Drybar appointment. We love that the plates heat up to 450 degrees while the paddle-style brush and ionic technology seal and smooth your strands into an ultra-sleek finish. Whether your hair is fine, straight, coarse, or coily, a few passes will give you salon-level results. Former Byrdie Editor Ashley Jimenez calls this brush “a lifesaver.” She has thick, curly hair that usually takes an hour and a half to straighten, but the Brush Crush got her down to a maximum of 45 minutes. We wish the power cord were a bit longer, but otherwise, we have no complaints.

What to Consider

  • Not ideal for short, fine hair

  • Bristles aren’t very durable

Max Temp: 450 F | Features: Thermal technology, adjustable heat, swivel cord, cool-tip bristles

If you want an ideal budget option, Remington delivers. Ceramic thermal technology infused with argan oil and keratin delivers smooth hair with radiant shine. We like that the cool-tip bristles allow you to get right down to the roots without worrying about your scalp getting too hot. The brush is somewhat wide, so it may not be the best choice for someone with short or fine hair. Because of the plant oils, this hair-straightening brush is ideal for those with medium-to-long hair or hair that’s been chemically treated, including coloring.

What We Like

  • Accessible and can be found at your local drugstore

  • Comfortable ergonomic design

  • Extra-large paddle covers bigger sections

Max Temp: 430 F | Features: 10 heat settings, temp memory, ion generator, dual voltage, auto shut-off

From the drugstore, we’re loving Revlon’s XL Hair-Straightening Brush. The notably large paddle brush covers a more extensive section of hair with every pass—a win for those with long, thick hair. Although it may be on the heavier side, we’ve found the ergonomic design comfortable to hold. We were also impressed with the 10 heat settings and a smart memory system that saves your preferred temp.

Max Temp: 450 F | Features: Cool-tip bristles, LCD, negative ion technology, auto shut-off, swivel cord, dual voltage

L’ange’s Le Vite Brush has precise heat settings, allowing you to choose the exact temperature up to 450 degrees. We also like that it uses negative ion technology to help seal the hair cuticle, prevent flyaways, and generate incredibly smooth, luscious results. Moreover, the single-pass design means you can get sleek strands from root to tip without overheating (and, thus, damaging) your hair.

What We Like

  • Polishes hair to sleek finish

  • Maximum coverage with every pass

  • Comfortable ergonomic shape

What to Consider

  • Heavy paddle

  • Edges can get hot

Features: Rapid heating, auto shut-off, swivel cord, ceramic-coated teeth

If it’s smooth hair you’re after, T3 is the way to go. The brand’s Edge Heated Brush has ceramic-coated teeth that polish your hair into a sleek, shiny finish while locking in your style. We also appreciate that the plate is heated from edge to edge to maximize coverage with every pass—just be careful about how you angle it because the sides will be hot! This hair-straightening brush is on the heavier side, but its ergonomic shape makes it comfortable to hold.

GHD Glide Professional Performance Hot Brush

What We Like

  • Optimal heating temperature

  • Reduces snagging and flyaways

  • Wide paddle with long bristles

What to Consider

  • Heavy paddle

  • Can be noisy

Max Temp: 365 F | Features: Fast heating, ionizer

Too much heat can be damaging to hair. With that in mind, the ghd Glide only goes up to 365 degrees so as to not fry your strands; plus, the ceramic plate and built-in ionizer prevent tugging, snagging, and flyaways. It’s somewhat noisy when running, but the wide paddle and long bristles effortlessly pass through larger sections of hair for quicker styling sessions.

Max Temp: 420 F | Features: Ceramic plate, tourmaline technology, detangling teeth, adjustable heat

Reach for the Platform Stylus when your hair needs a little oomph. This heated brush not only smooths but also adds volume and fullness. You can create romantic ’90s-inspired styles with flips, waves, and lots of body, or opt for straight, sleek results. We’re big fans of the sturdy, tangle-preventing teeth and tourmaline technology that locks in a polished finish.

Max Temp: Not specified | Features: Adjustable heat, ceramic plates, swivel cord

Positive ions create static electricity, which can contribute to flyaways. The Suki Brush uses ionic technology, meaning it calls on negative ions to neutralize the positive ones, ultimately giving you super-smooth, impeccably sleek hair that resists the effects of extremely dry hair and humidity.

The bristles may not be quite long enough to penetrate very thick, coarse hair, but those with medium or fine hair can expect salon-quality results. You can also rotate the brush to make soft waves.

TYMO Ring Plus

What to Consider

  • Slightly heavy

  • Not ideal for fine hair

Max Temp: 410 F | Features: Ceramic plates, 9 temperature settings, LED display, auto shut-off, dual voltage

The Tymo Ring Plus is ideal for natural hair. It’s more of a comb than a brush, with 25 “three-dimensional teeth” that gently pull sections of hair through heated slots to smooth it out. We like that the ceramic plates are coated with keratin to help smooth the hair cuticle and prevent damage. You can choose from nine temperature settings ranging from 250 to 410 degrees.

What We Like

  • Provides a glossy, flyaway-free finish

  • Consistent, even heating

  • Bristles don’t tug on hair

Max Temp: 410 F | Features: Ionic technology, 5 temperatures, smart-sense heating, auto shut-off

Paul Mitchell’s Neuro Sleek Hot Brush will deliver if you want a shiny mane. This clever gadget uses smart-sense technology to offer consistent, even heating throughout the ceramic plate while the negative ion generator provides a glossy finish free of flyaways. We also appreciate that the anti-tension bristles don’t tug on your hair and allow you to get close to the roots without burning your scalp.

Amazon NuMe Straightening Heat Brush

Max Temp: 450 F | Features: Digital temperature display, far infrared heat, ionic technology, auto shut-off, swivel cord, dual voltage

This hair-straightening brush uses far infrared heat to essentially heat strands from the inside to prevent frying the outside. Not only that, but the ion technology gives static electricity the boot to keep flyaways at bay. We like that the extra-long tourmaline ceramic bristles easily work through any hair thickness and texture while smoothing the cuticle to create a sleek, shiny finish that lasts all day.

What We Like

  • Simultaneously dries and detangles

  • Eliminates static to prevent flyaways

  • Cool-shot mode locks in style

Features: Flexible bristles, ion generator, adjustable heat, cool-shot button

As the name suggests, The Knot Dr. is just the thing for removing knots and detangling hair. This blow-dryer-brush combo generates warm air with negative ions to eliminate static, boost shine, and make your hair more manageable while adding shine and volume. Like a regular hair dryer, you can use the cool-shot button to lock in your style when finished.

What to Look for in a Hair-Straightening Brush

  • Ceramic Plating: When shopping for a straightening brush, we suggest looking for a device with ceramic plates. Heat styling can already damage hair, so reducing tugging at the roots and snagging can prevent breakage.
  • Adjustable Heat: We don’t recommend setting your hair-straightening brush any hotter than 375 degrees. Tools that are too hot can damage your hair’s keratin protein. (Keratin protein is the outer layer of the hair). Finer hair types should stick to temps lower than 390 degrees, while coarser hair will start to become damaged at 410 degrees. Some options we found don’t exceed 400 degrees, but if yours goes higher, you may want to set it to a lower temp.
  • Brush Size: A larger brush is best for refreshing thicker, denser hairstyles, while a smaller brush spot treats sections such as the hairline or nape. Those with finer or less dense hair can get away with using smaller tools since they have less hair that needs to be styled.
  • Bristle Length: You should also pay attention to the bristle length. Longer bristles will have an easier time working through thicker, coarser hair and reaching the roots. However, people with thin hair and those who want to smooth out the top layer of their hair quickly can use a hot brush with shorter bristles.

FAQ

  • Any heat on your hair can cause damage. But since a straightening brush lessens direct contact with heat than a flat iron by creating space between the hot plates and your hair, it is a great choice for reducing potential damage. Exercise caution with your ends, though. Make sure the tips of your hair don’t tangle on the brush, which could lead to tugging and breakage. Also, never use a hot brush on wet or even damp hair.

  • If you want sleek, straight strands with minimal flyaways, a flat iron will do the trick. But a straightener brush might be a better option if you want a bit more volume and fullness. And in terms of protecting hair from heat damage, a hot brush is generally better for regular use.

  • Minimizing your hair’s exposure to heat is one of the best ways to prevent damage, and a straightening brush will usually be less damaging than a traditional flat iron. If you use one every day, try to keep the temperature around 375 degrees or below and aim for one pass per section of hair. And again, only use a hot brush on completely dry hair.

  • Yes, straightening brushes work well on thick hair. Unlike a flat iron, which can remove volume, a hot brush will straighten and smooth your hair while allowing it to remain full. Hot brushes can require several passes to fully straighten very thick or coarse hair, so your styling session may take longer than with a blow dryer or flat iron. “One must part the hair and smaller sections to achieve the best results,” says Peace.
