These Floral Jeans Will Make Me Break My ‘Zero Denim’ Policy for Summer 2025

Let the rest of the world argue about whether or not jeans are suitable for the office, but for me, if there’s one thing I’m clear about, it’s that if there’s one place you can’t wear them, it’s inside your home, and if there’s one time you should avoid them, it’s when temperatures start tor rise. For a variety of reasons, most jeans simply aren’t ideal for summer nor for lounging around the house… until you find the exception that forces you to challenge your most deeply held beliefs.
There are the Miley Cyrus anti-skinny jeans, so light that they could be compatible with the high temperatures and the comfort demanded by the tranquility of your living room. Then there’s the white floral jeans that return every season to the stores, which they may not be coolest but seem to pair well with all your summer blouses. Year after year, brands attempt to reproduce the success that Zara’s printed Marine Straight had back in 2021. I admit it: I still haven’t gotten over them.
Over the past few years, Inditex continued to reissue its most famous high-waisted wide-leg jeans in all kinds of washes: light denim, dark denim, indigo, gray… But they never launched the floral Marine jeans again. Like so many of Zara’s other vital past releases opportunities, it only takes a second to miss them and spend a lifetime regretting it. Fortunately, that’s not the only design on the market that make it worth breaking the “zero denim” summer policy.
Here are three characteristics you need to look for:
- There’s the silhouette, which varies depending on the store, the cut, and the type of pants but should always have wide legs, whether they’re straight, flared, slouchy, or barrel jeans. Otherwise, the stiffness and thickness of the fabric would add to the discomfort of wearing them next to the skin.
- Like any jeans, the fabric should be cotton but some pants combine other materials. For example, elastane to make them stretchy, viscose to make them more fluid, or a low percentage of linen to make them lighter. In the case of summer jeans, it’s best to experience the fabric by hand because even 100% cotton items can vary in stiffness and density. There are 100% cotton jeans that are thinner and cooler than others, and those are, of course, the ones worth investing in.
- For some reason, a floral print somehow irrationally but instantly transform denim these into summer pants, especially when you start with a white canvas. If sparkly jeans are the sequin dress for low-key girls, floral jeans are the denim equivalent of daisy-print dresses and skirts.
Just look at the different variations of floral jeans included in every store’s summer collections. It seems I’m not the only one who lost the Marines and hasn’t gotten over it. Because of them yes, absolutely yes, I’d wear jeans this summer and every summer.
