Rhode’s Lip Tint Is Getting a Fresh New Flavor and a Formula Upgrade

Have you ever seen those videos of parents giving their baby a lemon for the first time? Most often, they squeeze their face into a tight little grimace when the sour juice hits their tongue. It’s not nice, but it’s cute.

Sometimes, though, the babies are all about the tang. They’ll suck on the citrus wedge happily and then maybe ask for more.

That’s how I’m feeling about Rhode’s upcoming launch: the limited-edition Lemontini Peptide Lip Tint. Add in a new-and improved-formula? Happy baby, indeed. Ahead, all the details on the fresh shade, and the grain-free formula.

Rhode’s Lemontini Peptide Lip Tint

After weeks of teasing the announcement with “Lemon Drop” manicures and pops of the sunny color in brand founder Hailey Bieber’s photo dumps, Rhode officially dropped the launch announcement in a Wednesday, July 2 Instagram post.

“Lemontini summer,” it wrote. “Meet our new limited-edition Peptide Lip Tint that’s here just for Rhode Summer.”

The shimmery, sheer-gold gloss smells like “a sweet, citrusy lemon cocktail” and is the first of its kind to feature a new formula the brand has been developing for a smoother texture.

Like the rest of the (not yet upgraded) Lip Tints and Treatments, it’s packed with nourishing hydrating skincare ingredients (those peptides!). However, this one is especially perfect for summer. I love my Cinnamon Roll, but I’d rather hold a chilled martini by the pool than a hot pan of pastries—even if Bieber herself baked them.

The New Formula

In a separate Instagram post, Rhode announced that Lemontini has a new formula. Though the brand is calling the announcement “tini,” it’s actually kind of a big deal. The Peptide Lip Treatment formula that we know has been around since the brand launched in 2022.

According to Rhode, the idea to upgrade came from customer notes that the balms can develop a grainy feel over time.

“Inspired by your feedback, we’re so excited to share that an improved version of the formula is on the way. Same nourishing gloss you know and love, now with a lasting smooth texture,” it wrote. “We took our time over the past two years by researching, experimenting, and testing to find a solution. Our biggest upgrade was switching the shea butter from a solid to a liquid form, ensuring it glides on smoothly and maintains a consistently even texture. Feels just like the original, with the same skincare benefits and a little more cushion and richness for a comfy application.”

Lemontini launches later this month, and the rest of the Tints and Treatments will follow suit with a switch to the new formula on August 14.

More Lemontini to Love

Though no official announcement has been made, it seems there’s more to the Lemontini launch than the singular balm. In a Tuesday, June 1 Instagram story, Bieber shared a mirror selfie that showcased her tube carefully tucked into a matching lemon-yellow Lip Case. She shared a similar image to her feed the next day, and we also caught sight of a yellow Bubble Bag like the one that comes with the Rhode Kit.

Pucker up, team. A bright Rhode Summer awaits us. It might taste a little sour, but will ultimately be oh-so-sweet.
