Dua Lipa’s Studded Gold French Mani Captures the Summer Sun

When it’s so hot out that you can’t stand to simply stand outside, one of the best things to do is get a manicure. When you exit the salon, it’ll still be hot… but your nails will look cute. And maybe even cool, if you get your design right.

Though I’m not sure where Dua Lipa is in the world right now (I think London?), her latest manicure really captures the way the sun is beating down on plenty of us in the northern hemisphere. While still retaining the effortless cool factor she’s known for, naturally.

In an Instagram post shared to her Service 95 book club’s account on Wednesday, July 30, Lipa held her next literary pick—This House of Grief—in her studded gold French manicured hand.

The rounded almond-shaped mani’s neutral base was as simple as they come, but things took a turn toward the elaborate at the tip. Instead of a simple coat of gold chrome polish, her nail artist Michele Humphrey affixed a bunch of tiny gold beads to each nail for the singer’s funkiest Frenchies yet.

That’s really saying something, by the way. This summer we’ve seen Lipa rock polka dot, rhinestone flower, and tie-dye French-tipped designs.

Still, this one has the solar power of a thousand tiny suns—each bead is shining bright!—which means its cool-girl energy conversion rate is astronomical.

If you’re looking to copy Lipa’s manicure, you’re going to need some nail glue, an array of tiny gold beads, and plenty of patience. Make sure the air conditioning is blasting before you get too involved, then outline your tip and get to placing those tiny golden baubles.
