I Tried Coco Gauff’s New High-Protein Smoothie

- Tennis player Coco Gauff teams up with Naked for a pineapple-orange protein smoothie with 20g of protein.
- The drink is fruit-based, with no added sugars or artificial sweeteners, plus electrolytes from coconut water.
- Its vibrant taste and smooth finish makes it a nutritious, enjoyable pre-workout option.
With the U.S. Open in full *swing*, tennis stars like Iga Świątek and Coco Gauff are already making headlines for their stellar performances this season. And for Gauff, her headlines also include her newest launch with juice and smoothie brand Naked: A pineapple-orange smoothie that’s packed with 20 grams of protein.
The new smoothie, which has a photo of Gauff (Naked’s Chief Smoothie Officer) on the bottle, is made with a blend of whole fruit and fruit juices, plus coconut water and sea salt for electrolytes. Ahead of the launch, I put it to the test to see if it really tasted as good as it sounds—and if it’s worth the buy.
Here’s what’s in each 15.2-ounce bottle of Coco Gauff’s Pineapple Orange Protein Smoothie:
- Calories: 220
- Carbohydrates: 36g
- Dietary Fiber: 6g
- Total Sugars: 28g
- Added Sugar: 0g
- Protein: 20g
- Total Fat: 1g
- Saturated Fat: 0g
- Cholesterol: 0mg
- Sodium: 270mg
Loaded with protein and 6 grams of fiber, this smoothie is a satisfying option before a workout, or if you’re Gauff, before a big match. And while it has 28 grams of sugar, the sugar content is solely from the fruit in this smoothie and there are no added sugars in this sip. Bonus points for this smoothie having no artificial sweeteners to embrace the natural sweetness from ingredients like apple juice concentrate, banana puree, orange juice, orange pulp and pineapple juice.
As for the taste of this smoothie, it’s exactly what you’d expect in the best way. In my first sip, I was immediately hit with a vibrant orange flavor, followed by the acidity of pineapple. With the perfectly smooth texture, I quickly finished the bottle and felt fulfilled to take on the morning.
Another thing I loved about this smoothie was that although it gets its protein from soy protein isolate, there was no weird aftertaste that you sometimes get from other protein smoothies on the market. The fruit flavors were front and center, and being a promising source of electrolytes, this drink will support hydration and workout recovery. Overall, this is a nutritious, enjoyable beverage that I would definitely recommend and buy in the future.
Available on shelves at Albertsons, Target, Kroger and Walmart this September, snag some bottles for your U.S. Open finals watch party, where you may see Gauff become a two-time champion.
