Even Snooki Wears Sunscreen Now

When Jersey Shore first aired in 2009, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi shared her one true love with viewers: tanning. Given her former enthusiasm, it might surprise you to learn that Snooki doesn’t tan like she used to. In fact, the reality television star has done a complete 180. “I was the tanning queen, and I never put SPF on my face or body. I wanted to be tan and pretty,” says Snooki over Zoom. “But now, I’m the total opposite. I can still be tan and pretty and protect my skin.”

Yes, Snooki wears sunscreen now. So, it makes sense that Bliss tapped her as the brand’s first Bliss Summer Superhero. What exactly does this mean? On July 13, Snooki handed out the Bliss Beach Day SPF Kit at the Jersey Shore to help spread the word on how important and easy it is to use (and reapply) sunscreen. Naturally, the curated set is filled with all the summer essentials—from the Bliss Baby Mineral Sunstick SPF 50 to the Laura Geller x Bliss Shine-n-Shield Lip Balm SPF 15.

Ahead of her Jersey Shore superhero debut, we talked to Snooki about her partnership with Bliss, how her skincare routine has evolved, and the one step she never skips.

On What Made Her Want to Partner with Bliss

“My daughter is obsessed with Bliss products. She’s 10. She loves all the skincare and body care. So when I told her about [this] Bliss [partnership], she was like, ‘Mom. Oh my God.’ She thought it was so cool.

Also, I love the campaign they’re doing with SPF and making sure our skin is okay in the summertime. I wasn’t always the best with SPF—I love to tan, and I didn’t put anything on my body for the longest time. But once I became a mom, I thought, “Okay, I have to take care of my skin. I have to do a little bit better with being in the sun [which means] applying the SPF, then giving it to my children as well to make sure they’re safe.” So overall, the entire campaign spoke to me and how I am as a mother.”

On Her Skin Type and Concerns

“I feel like I always had the best skin, so growing up, I never broke out. But once I became a mom, my whole body changed, [especially] my skin. I got blemishes, and my skin got drier. So, I needed to figure out how to deal with [these new concerns]. I try to do everything I can not to look 95. I’m doing the best I can to keep my skin nice and healthy.”

On Her Morning and Nighttime Routine

“I like to keep my skin fresh. Every single morning, I put on Bliss Block Star Tinted SPF. I’m always putting that on my face to protect my skin and make sure that I’m good. Then I’ll add a little lip gloss. I’ll also use the Laura Geller x Bliss face mist.

At night, I like to wash my face in the shower. After, I’ll use a face moisturizer then the face mist.”

How Her Skincare Routine Has Evolved

“Growing up, I never really used any products. I washed my face with a washcloth and soap. In high school, I started using makeup wipes and exfoliating pads. But then I think I was using too much because my face would get sensitive and red. I learned I can’t use a lot of products, such as face masks, because my skin will get red and start to break out. Less is more for me.”

Her Skincare Pet Peeve

“The vampire facial. I want to die every time I see it. I’m sure it works wonders for people who really need it, but Jenni, JWoww, got it done. She sent me pictures, and I wanted to throw up. Why would you do that? Your skin is beautiful. She likes to try everything, but it just rubs me the wrong way.”

The Skincare Step She Never Skips

“I love to use exfoliating pads to take off everything right before bed. I do that every single night, and I just feel like it makes my skin breathe, it just makes me feel clean.”
