Glossier’s New Liquid Highlighter Bottles a Golden Hour Glow

Key Takeaways
- On August 7, Glossier launched Skylight, a liquid highlighter.
- The highlighter has a glowy not glittery finish, and comes in six pretty shades.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been having a Glossier summer. It all started in the late spring with You Fleur; that perfect floral-not-floral and slightly salty perfume got me ready for gardening time. Then, the sheer fragrance mists swept in to define the scent landscape of long days by the pool while Lip Glaze oils kept me cute (and hydrated) in the heat.
Now, as we soak up the last stretch of summer, the millennial pink powerhouse has figured out a way to keep one of our favorite parts of the season going strong all winter long. Brands love to bottle sunshine, but Glossier is taking on golden hour.
Keep reading to discover everything there is to know about Skylight, Glossier’s new liquid highlighter, which launches Thursday, August 7.

The Inspiration
Described as a “skin-loving liquid highlighter for pearlescent radiance,” the hydrating, buildable, and illuminating gellified-serum formula was invented to “capture the way light kisses skin and enhances its natural radiance.”
You can layer it over your favorite complexion products or wear it alone, using just a dot or building up for major shine. The glow is yours to embrace no matter how you like it, and Glossier promises you’ll feel like you stepped into your best light regardless of application process.
The Formula
Skylight comes in six colors: Lunar (a white gold with golden pearl sheen), Prism (rose gold with silver pearl), Starry (gold with peach champagne pearl), Sunlit (light bronze with golden pearl), Glimmer (copper with golden peach pearl), and Gaze (deep bronze with red pearl).
You won’t find any heavy glitters (or overly glittery add-ins) in any of the shades—just extra-fine, dimensional shimmer thanks to a specialized ingredient called Complexion-Inspired Micro Pearls.

Other key ingredients include a “gellified serum base,” a “crystal-clear, cushiony gel that visually smoothes uneven texture, while perfectly holding reflective pearls in place for an even, lasting glow.” Hyaluronic acid and copolymers also shows up to deliver hydration while helping the product adhere to skin so your glow stays put through sweat, water, and humidity.

It’s also non-sticky, non-tacky, and non-streaky, with clinical testing showing up to 12-hour wear and 24-hour hydration.
How to Use It
Glossier suggests using the product’s included applicator to dot Skylight onto the high points of your face. Then, blend it in with your fingertips for a naturally highlighted look.

If you’re looking for a little extra glow, you can dot it along your nose, on the high points of your brow bones, and at the inner corners of your eyes.
Then, pull out the camera and get selfie-ing. It’s golden hour somewhere.
Skylight ($24) launches Thursday, August 7 at Glossier and Sephora, both in-store and online.
