I Tried Courtney Cox’s “One-Stop Shop” Concealer

Key Takeaways
- Courteney Cox shared her “efficient” makeup routine in an Instagram video.
- She used the Make Beauty Skin Mimetic Concealer as her base and to brighten her under-eyes.
- The concealer gave me glowy skin and bright, crease-free under-eyes.
When Courteney Cox talks, we listen, especially when it comes to beauty. While Monica Geller is a type-A as they come, in real life the actor embraces a chill California girl attitude, down to her easy-going makeup routine. On June 30, Cox took to Instagram to share her “efficient” everyday makeup routine, consisting of some black eyeliner, a nude lip liner, and a peachy blush. The star of the show? A “one stop shop” concealer that she uses all over as a base, as well as to brighten her under eyes.
The concealer in question is Make Beauty Skin Mimetic Concealer, which also happens to be a favorite of Hailey Bieber’s, frequently appearing in her own GRWM videos. (It’s also a Byrdie Beauty Award winner.) As a fan of glowy coverage—as well as these two ladies—I knew I had to try this product myself.
The Formula
This concealer has a radiant finish and provides buildable coverage, so you can use it to lightly cover imperfections or as a base for a full face of makeup. I was most impressed by the 20-option shade range with specific shades for neutral, cool, and warm undertones. I can be picky about complexion products, and I’ve stuck with the same concealer for years before deciding to make a change. It’s been a while since I added a new product to my rotation, so I was excited to see what this one had to offer.
Byrdie
The concealer comes in a sleek black tube with a thin, tapered doe-foot applicator that makes it easy to reach hard-to-conceal corners, such as around the nose or under the eyebrows. I found the formula light but creamy, blending without much effort—I could’ve easily used my fingers instead of a brush. The feel on my skin was super soft and hydrating—most likely due to the formula’s moisturizing ingredients, including squalane, red algae, and vitamin E.
My Review
Byrdie
I use concealer to cover hyperpigmentation and dark circles; few products I try can meet the challenge. However, I was quite impressed with this one; it brightened and illuminated my spots without creasing or leaving a chalky finish behind. The formula settled into my complexion nicely—it looked like my skin was naturally that radiant. I have notably hard-to-conceal dark circles, but this formula covered them efficiently with just a few swipes—leaving them glowy and hydrated.
Finding a concealer that doesn’t emphasize my dry skin can also be challenging, but I didn’t have that problem with this one. After wearing it all day, I loved that it looked the same as when I first applied it—zero creasing or separating. I’m excited to keep using this hydrating concealer this summer, and I’m sure it’ll become a staple in my routine no matter the season.
