K18's New "HeatBounce" Spray Protects Your Hair With Biotech

Anyone with an overlapping interest in haircare and science (that’s everyone—they’re extremely connected) knows that K18 is *the* brand to watch. They first hopped on the scene with the Leave-in Molecular Repair Hair Mask in 2020, and have since released a lineup of biotech-backed products that take cues from nature to help tackle hair problems from the inside out.

Their newest launch is something special, though. The brand is calling their weightless heat protectant, HeatBounce, their “biggest innovation since launch.”

Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about the cream-to-mist formula—including all of that good science!—before its July 31 release.

The Inspiration

HeatBounce is the long-awaited final step in K18’s hair repair ritual, made for use post-mask and pre-styling. It was designed for all hair types and textures and made to leave hair soft, shiny, and strong. It was inspired by flesible proteins found in nature that show major resilience by withstanding extreme temperatures.

“HeatBounce reflects our commitment to pushing the boundaries of hair science,” explained Suveen Sahib, co-founder and CEO of K18, in a press release. “Powered by our patented ResiliCore technology, it delivers intelligent heat protection that penetrates deep into the hair fiber—reinforcing inner bonds and preserving strength by dynamically responding to heat. It’s a true breakthrough and the perfect complement to our molecular repair innovation.”

The Science

HeatBounce is powered by a first-of-its-kind molecule called ResiliCore. The technology “penetrates deep into the hair’s cortex to defend against high heat (up to 450°F), UV damage, and breakage—where heat damage actually starts.”

The product starts as a lightweight cream which is applied as a fine mist before you go to work with your hair straightener. You can use it on damp or dry hair to condition and defend against heat, mechanical damage, and UV environmental damage without any added weight.

“With HeatBounce, K18 delivers on its promise of performance without compromise,” adds the brand. “[It empowers] stylists and consumers alike to turn on the heat with confidence.”

HeatBounce launches July 31 on K18hair.com and at Sephora.
