Kat Dennings Covered Her Nails in the Stick-On Earrings of Your Youth — See Photos

Allure

Depending on when you grew up and how young you were when you got your ears pierced, you may get inordinately sentimental at the sight of tiny, colorful, plastic, flat-back gems. For so many of us, stick-on earrings were our only way to feel like a glamorous grown-up when we were kids. Then we’d move on to “real” earrings, and the smooth, little jewels would end up either in the garbage, on your little niece’s ears if the adhesive was still going strong, or in the bin your mom says you have to go through or she’ll throw it out every time you visit. But while your piercings may not allow you to wear stick-on earrings today, Kat Dennings has come up with a way to keep the nostalgic glamour going via nail art.

Over the weekend, Dennings posted clips of her impressively well-moisturized hands (drop the hand routine, Kat!) to both her Instagram Stories and grid, where she wrote, “fave nails I’ve ever done ✨”—and it’s easy to see why.

On the Shifting Gears star’s Instagram Stories, we see that the manicure started with a bin of multicolor gems in shapes like hearts, crescent moons, flowers, marquise, and more. It should be noted that Dennings, who did her nails herself, didn’t buy packs upon packs of stick-on earrings (which are still readily available for purchase pretty much everywhere you’d imagine they are). Instead, she used adhesive jewels intended specifically for manicures. But the resemblance is truly uncanny—and super-cute.
