Especially in the warmer half of the year, the princess often turns to the versatile style because it instantly elevates any look—and if we know anything about the royals, it’s that they love a fancy occasion.

Most recently, Princess Kate wore a head-to-toe white look from the brand Self-Portrait, which included a midi-length pleated skirt with a lace-trim hem that is sheer from the knee to the mid-calf. The trendy midi length is the new intermediate for dresses and skirts that are giving minis and maxis a run for their money.

Whether A-line or straight, pleated or ruffled, mid-length skirts can be adapted to any style—though right now, a lace-trim is a super popular way to add a bit of texture and boho romance.
