Approximately 24,173 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken sausage is being recalled nationwide due to a possible widespread foreign matter contamination.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) 11-ounce vacuum-packed packages with four pieces of “All Natural Al Fresco Chicken Sausage Sweet Apple with Vermont Maple Syrup” are being recalled by the manufacturer, Kayem Foods Inc. The recalled sausage was sold at grocery stores across the U.S., including Walmart locations in 28 states and regions.
Packages with the lot code 179 and “use/frz by” date of October 1, 2025 as well as the establishment number “P-7839” inside the USDA inspection mark are the products subject to the recall and should not be consumed.
Kayem Foods recalled the product after three consumers reported that there were white pieces of plastic in the chicken sausage. While there have been no reports of injury from the consumption of these products, the FSIS advises consumers with affected products to throw out their packages or return them to the retail location where they were purchased.
