Lindsay Lohan Revives Gossip Girl's Most Controversial Peep Toe Heels

Lindsay Lohan has been taking us back in time throughout the Freaky Friday 2 press tour.

For those who don’t know, Lohan recently recreated the dress that her character, Anna, wears to her mom’s wedding during the final scenes of the 2003 classic. This new version by Ludovic de Saint Sernin featured sequins, lace, and embroidered flowers. The final touch was a small Judith Leiber bag in the shape of an electric guitar, a clear reference to Anna’s instrument of choice.

Her character’s rebellious nature and rocker style are two of the most important aspects of Freaky Friday, so it’s only natural that the actor found inspiration in both traits. This not only showed on the red carpet, but also with a more casual, but equally impressive, outfit, which, incidentally, reminded us how iconic the shoes on Gossip Girl were.

Lindsay Lohan revived the most controversial peep toe shoes ever seen on Gossip Girl ahead of an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. On July 28, she let herself be seen in a rocker ensemble that certainly screams 2010. The look consisted of a white graphic tee—featuring the name of Anna’s band in the film, Pink Slip—by Re/Done, a leather miniskirt, and an Hermès bag.

Lohan saved the best aspect of her look for last because, as we know, shoes were very important in 2010s fashion. With high platforms and details like spikes and studs, they became the quickest way to make a style statement. Something Lohan knows very well, as she opted for orange and white peep-toe cage booties by Balenciaga.

This strappy model was the star of the show back in the day and was a less dramatic version than those worn by Victoria Beckham. It was undoubtedly a very aesthetically pleasing piece, so it’s no surprise that Gossip Girl’s own Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) had them in her wardrobe—although it did make us question their comfort, especially for school.
