Lourdes “Lola” Leon has always been exceptionally cool. When I was in middle school, I would beeline straight to her teenager-chic clothing line, Material Girl, the second my mom dropped me off at the mall. Now that I’m able to drive myself anywhere I wish, I still feel her influence—this time via my Spotify discovery page. She releases music under the stage name Lolahol, a moniker that communicates self understanding—she goes by Lola!—and a little bit of ambiguity—she’s said “the name itself is depth.”
Now, the musician has found another way to influence me. Leon is one of newly launched intimacy skincare company Mienne’s “Mienne Muses,” three “visionary women who encapsulate the brand’s ethos of composure, confidence, and liberated sensuality.” While there were certainly multiple reasons that Mienne drew her in, Leon liked that they didn’t seem to be “trying too hard.”
“The brand felt intimate with the idea of skincare as a personal ritual behind it,” she tells Byrdie.
