Nicole Kidman Wrapped Up Summer With a Rare Look at Her Natural Curls

When I picture a celebrity, there’s usually a certain look they’re associated with that first pops into my head no matter how much of a hair chameleon they are. Lady Gaga will always have those platinum blonde, blunt bangs from The Fame era—that’s how she looked when I met her! Miley Cyrus will have long brunette beach waves à la the final season of Hannah Montana, and Keke Palmer has cemented herself as forever copper-haired in my mind after all the looks she’s pulled off for the last year or so.

Nicole Kidman, though? She’s a complicated one. While I’d definitely lean red or strawberry blonde for the color, her texture couldn’t be more fluid. I know she’s a curly girl naturally, but we’ve seen her locks styled every which way, in so many iconic roles. The image my mind pulls up is always a surprise, and always a delight.

What’s even better? When Kidman decides to surprise and delight with her hair in real life. That might mean a red carpet bixie cut, or having her natural curls—and these are super curly super curls, by the way—make a rare appearance.

On Tuesday, August 19, the actress shared an Instagram post capturing her summer memories before back-to-school season begins. It appears a lot of her time was spent with family, letting her waves thrive every which way: wet, dry, up, and even hanging way down as she laid out on a bench.

In the first slide, captured by an underwater camera, we see her jumping off a boat and diving through clear blue water. Though pulled back by the ocean, her texture holds strong. (That is to say, there are no wigs here.) In a couple other slide, her dried curls are springy as can be as she hugs her daughters, who have some gorgeous waves of their own.

As you keep scrolling through Kidman’s carousel, you’re met with more and more curl content. Is it safe to say she had a lovely summer, with lots of moments to let her hair down?

Fans rushed to offer their adoration on her post per usual. This time, though, most of the notes were about her hair.

“Let the curls run free! Beautiful,” read one comment, while another thanked her for sharing her “real hair.” “THE ORIGINAL HAIR IS BACK,” added someone else.

Even Reese Witherspoon joined the curl fan club. “Look at all that gorgeous hair !” she wrote.

Seriously, look at it! I guess you are a curly girl in my mind’s eye, Nicole Kidman. It feels right.
