Over 30,000 Pounds of Meat Recalled Nationwide

- The FSIS just recalled 32,000 pounds of chorizo, pork chops and ribs for false inspection labels.
- Products may pose health risks since they bypassed inspection, though no illnesses have been reported.
- Consumers should check for “EST. 1785” on affected products and dispose of any recalled meat.
An ongoing recall was just announced on approximately 32,000 pounds of various meat products sold nationwide, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). This is due to the products containing a false mark of inspection.
The following meat products are being recalled, including 14-ounce vacuum-sealed packages of chorizo, pork chops and ribs:
- Homestyle chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Suelto Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
- Smoked pork chops labeled “OLANCHO Chuleta Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
- Smoked chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Ahumado Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
- Cased homestyle chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Olanchano Criollo SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
- Smoked BBQ spicy chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Parrillero SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
- Smoked ribs labeled “OLANCHO Costilla Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
Each of these packages contain a false USDA mark of inspection with establishment number “EST. 1785.” They were distributed and sold at retail locations and restaurants across the U.S. Check your refrigerator or freezer for these meat products, and if it matches the recall information, dispose of it immediately.
According to the FSIS, “food produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk.” While there are no illnesses or reactions connected to this recall, contact a healthcare provider with any concerns after eating one of the recalled products.
