Salami Recalled in Canada Due to Salmonella Outbreak



  • There are 60-plus salami and cacciatore products being recalled in Canada due to Salmonella risk.
  • Affected products were sold in six provinces; consumers should return or dispose of recalled meats.
  • As of July 21, 87 illnesses have been connected to this recall, including nine hospitalizations.

There’s an active recall on 13 brands of salami and cacciatore, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). This is due to a Salmonella contamination.

The following brands and products are impacted by this recall. View the full recall for the specific UPC and lot codes included. Sizes vary for all of the below cured meat products.

These products were sold at retail locations in the following provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. Check your kitchen for these recalled meats, and if you find any that match the recall information, dispose of them or return them to your place of purchase for a possible refund.

As of July 19, there have been 87 illnesses connected to this recall, including nine hospitalizations. Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) can lead to symptoms of foodborne illness, including diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. Talk to a healthcare professional if you are showing signs of salmonellosis after eating the recalled salami.
