Selena Gomez’s Shaggy Bob Is the Coolest Way to Try Bangs This Summer

Getting a drastic haircut before a wedding is typically looked down upon. But it works out really well if you’re Selena Gomez, everything looks good on you, and we’re actually not sure when your wedding is planned for to begin with.

On Monday, June 22, the 32-year-old shared an Instagram post announcing that she’d gotten a special chop for summer. Her new ultra-layered, retro cut was a big change-up from the sleek, curved bobs and lobs she’s been rocking as of late, made even bolder with the addition of a wispy set of bangs.

Long and layered, the bangs fell past the singer’s eyebrows, stopping right before they began blocking her vision. Like the rest of her dark hair—which was cut into a shag—they were worn wavy and tousled.

“I would, but I’d regret it, then get it redone so I simply wont,” she wrote in her post’s caption, a nod to the fact that the bangs are most likely a wig. And yet, we got an Instagram selfie with them! Which makes them as real to the general public as can be.

In a separate post, hairstylist Orlando Pita shared some more glimpses of the style, which fans were quick to point out looked eerily similar to a look Linda Ronstadt would’ve rocked in the ’70s. “I’m really excited for this new Selena project! I hope it’s Linda’s,” one fan wrote in his post’s comment. Gomez has been in talks to star in a biopic about the rockstar for years.

“That’s still happening, though I’m not sure when,” she told The Hollywood Reporter back in November. “With Linda, once I met her and read two books, one of them over and over, I just found her to be so [compelling].”
