Tabu’s ivory lehenga comes alive with a floral and avian motif dupatta

Tabu's ivory lehenga comes alive with a floral and avian motif dupatta

As an actor who has delivered idiosyncratic performances and costumes on-screen, Tabu actually prefers classics in her off-duty wardrobe. Case in point is her hand painted kalamkari dupatta and Banarasi silk lehenga, styled by Natasha Vohra.

Designed by Aamra by Lavanya, Tabu’s outfit features an ivory lehenga and short sleeved blouse in Banarasi Chanderi silk. Almost doused with a subtle shimmer, the blouse and lehenga accentuate the vertically running zari pinstripes. The blouse, tailored with an ever flattering V neckline, is framed by scallopped borders embellished with golden sequin work and gotta patti chevron lace.

The true centrepiece of the look however, is the dupatta, a hand painted pen kalamkari silk piece themed around, “Birds outside cages”. Dyed in natural hues and detailed with pitta and sequin embroidery, the flowy ice blue drape with its expressive florals and avian motifs feels like wearable art. The dupatta’s tri-layered gota patti border with tassels adds slight structure and stiffness to the otherwise fluid nature of the print and fabric.

A rich bangle stack and rings by Kalyan Jewellers achored the look. A pastel-toned choker with matching drop earrings with vivid stones completed the bijoux. Her beauty adding to the floral theme, features a sleek low bun adorned with yellow roses, sculpted brows and cheekbones, peach diffused cheeks and expressive eyes.
