We Finally Have All the Details On Louis Vuitton La Beauté

Once upon a time, in 1854 to be exact, Louis Vuitton’s first flat-topped trunks launched. They were crafted for a specific type of traveler—someone who appreciated the elegant things in life and might like a cushioned compartment to cradle their fragrances and other l’objets on their voyage.
By the 1920s, the trunks were well-known in the luggage world. With women embarking on solo travels of their own more often, the brand decided to introduce custom vanity cases with compartments for makeup brushes, powder compacts, and other essentials to their line. Tortoiseshell brushes, ivory mirrors and compacts, and signature glass perfume flaçons also joined the collection, but no actual Louis Vuitton-branded makeup made an appearance… until now, that is.
I’m sure there’s someone out there lucky enough to be holding on to their great-great-grandmother’s Louis Vuitton vanity case. They’ll certainly be happy to hear about the launch of La Beauté, a new makeup collection designed in collaboration with the Dame Pat McGrath.
And if you’re just rocking a recently purchased Neverfull? I’m sure you’ll be excited, too. There’s nothing like a new purse lipstick—and this one is unsurprisingly luxe.

The Inspiration
On August 29, La Beauté will debut with an array of lipsticks (55 shades!), balms (there are ten, if you feel like collecting them all), and eyeshadow palettes (you’ll find eight to play with). Each is described as an “object of desire” that echoes “the trunk-making, artistry, and cultural vision” of Louis Vuitton.
“Expanding the House’s vision that is rooted in travel, creativity, and savoir-faire, this elevated makeup line introduces a highly curated offering of the finest quality makeup, housed in objects d’art designed to be kept forever,” explains the brand. “Redefining beauty as a lifestyle, as an experience and as a dedicated art form, this collection sets a new standard in luxury beauty.”

As mentioned, the brand appointed McGrath as Creative Director of La Beauté, counting on her to give the line her signature twist. She’s been creating beauty looks backstage at Louis Vuitton shows for decades, which means she knows the brand—and everything they’re about—well. With her influence, “every detail has been considered, refined, and perfected.”
The Lip Products
Louis Vuitton
According to Louis Vuitton, their 55 (a nod to the roman numerals for LV) new lipstick shades make up the heart of La Beauté. The range is made up of two finishes, with 27 creamy satin hues and 28 velvety matte shades in a formula rich with natural flower waxes, shea butter, and hyaluronic acid. Signature colors include Monogram Rouge, a fusion of the brand’s Monogram canvas brown and the red of a classic lipstick, pinky Rose Odyssée, and scarlet red Rouge Louis.
“With every single shade uniquely crafted and selected by Pat McGrath to be all-at-once universally flattering but brilliantly visionary, the full color offering is a testament to her exceptional expertise in makeup and boundless creativity,” the brand noted.
Louis Vuitton
Created as a “luminous and sheerer counterpart to the boldness of lipstick,” the 10 sheer, glowy balms were designed to “nourish, enhance, and revitalize lips over time” with a buildable finish. You’ll find a sheer interpretation of Monogram Rouge, dubbed Monogram Touch, in the collection, as well as a pearly pink shade called Tender Bliss and light rosewood called Rose Essentiel.
Every single lip product is also infused with a unique-to-the-collection fragrance dreamed up by the brand’s master perfumer, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, and McGrath. The lipsticks have notes of mimosa, jasmine, and rose, whereas you’ll find mint and raspberry in the balms.

The Eyeshadows
While we love a Pat McGrath lippie, there’s nothing like her eyeshadows. Louis Vuitton’s eight new four-shadow palettes features three wearable, everyday shades and an “unexpected twist” in the form of a standout hue “that shifts the mood, adds dimension, or ignites a spark of luxurious glamour.”

Naturally, one of the palettes sticks to the color scheme of Monogram Rouge. You’ll also find beiges, golden bronzes, and a host of other lovely shades throughout the collection. The powders will come in six finishes, from ultra-matte to glittery.
The Design
You can’t have an object of desire without some brilliant design. The collection’s packaging was crafted by industrial designer Konstantin Grcic—he’s a furniture guy, and this is his first foray into the beauty world.
Louis Vuitton
“Known for his refined approach to form and function, he brings the same philosophy to these luxurious beauty objects of desire, which are conceived as timeless creations, made to last,” shared Louis Vuitton. “Grcic has immortalized sustainability as a foundational element throughout the collection.”
Both the lipsticks and balms are refillable, with the shade name of the refill engraved into it and a window at the top of every bespoke bullet so you can see which color you’re grabbing.

And yes, they’re also releasing a new vanity trunk—this time paying homage to those early Louis Vuitton creations and McGrath’s own backstage beauty station—alongside special makeup cases. If you have a taste for luxury, La Beauté has all the treats.
