I bought my son this new Air Up water tumbler for school — and he won’t leave home without it

Like many parents or carers, I’ve had the ongoing battle to get my son to drink water on a daily basis. This is especially the case during a summer heatwave, when it’s essential for him to keep hydrated. And after going through my fair share of some of the best water bottles to make plain-tasting water seem appealing and “tasty,” it seemed like a mission impossible.
That was until we discovered the brand new air up tumbler that has literally changed our lives. With its eye-catching design, it looks similar to the iconic Stanley tumbler, but it has a unique twist.
The bottle comes with or without ‘Scentaste’, which is a flavored aroma pod that attaches to the top of the bottle’s drinking straw. Once on, it releases a scent to create a perception of taste through smell, tricking the mind to think they’re actually drinking flavored water. What’s more, aroma pods eliminate the risk of harmful additives and sweet flavorings often found in the majority of tasty beverages.
A genius idea for children, or even adults, to spruce up their water intake — and I was sold.
How does air up work?
Apparently, it’s all in the science. With each sip of water, scent is absorbed through the ear, nose, and throat that essentially tricks the brain into thinking you’re tasting flavored water. But does it actually work?
After opening our Lemonades pod selection (you can choose from 25+ flavors), the scents were noticeably strong. You then place a pod onto the base of the straw before filling your bottle with water — each pod is supposed to flavor 5-10 refills of water. Just note, these air up flavor pods are not to be refilled, washed or altered in any way.
While I was skeptical at first, this ‘hack’ seemed to have convinced my son to happily drink water on a regular basis. He especially thinks it’s “cool” to swap out the sweet-smelling flavors, from Watermelon and Peach to Kola, to give it variety.
In addition, its handle makes it ergonomic and lightweight to carry around, it comes with a leakproof lid and can easily fit into any backpack. It also comes with a double wall insulation that keeps water cold for up to 24 hours and is BPA, lead, and phthalate-free.
Needless to say, my son won’t leave home without it and insists on showing off his tumbler to his school friends. I’m just hoping the novelty doesn’t wear off just yet, but so far, it’s a win-win.
Where to buy the air up tumbler
