Ditch Plastic Containers for These Dietitian-Approved Pasta Bowls

We live in a world where plastic is omnipresent. It begs the question: How do we even go about avoiding microplastics in food? Simple (sometimes obvious) swaps can go a long way in helping to limit your intake. It’s A-OK to take baby steps, and one of our favorite dietitian-approved ways is to stop eating out of plastic takeout containers. 

“Research shows that for every five to 10 takeout food orders you eat, you could potentially ingest 145 to 5,520 microplastic particles,” says Brierley Horton, M.S., RD. Those are big, scary numbers—we know. The solution Horton loves? Her favorite pasta bowls, which happen to be on sale.

“They have become our go-to, so much so that we barely use regular plates anymore,” Horton says.
