Selena Gomez is a mani inspiration to many, including her own nail artist. I’m sure Mr. Tom Bachik has the best time ever combing through his own camera roll for a #ManiMonday or Flashback Friday post—he has quite an impressive array of work to scroll through.
Most recently, he was reminded (and thus reminded us!) of a very special and very summery manicure he crafted for the 32-year-old. (I imagine it was pre-engagement; she’s missing her massive marquise.) As a fan commented on his recent Instagram post, the bright orange shade is giving Karol G’s Tropicoqueta album cover art. And summer in general.

With a long, rounded base and not a cuticle in sight, each of Gomez’s fingernails was painted the same sunny orange shade. It’s a color that a nail polish naming expert would call “spicy” or “fiery,” unless they were working on a partnership with an orange juice company. Then, they could just call it “fresh squeezed.”
The color also reminds me of a more recent Gomez look. A few weeks ago, she posted an Instagram photo of her own showing off a shaggy bob with bangs. In the selfie, she was rocking a bright orange lipstick and equally vibrant blush.
How to Get the Look
Orange you glad this is such an easy manicure to recreate at home? A great polish match is Olive & June’s Lava, a spicy orange red. Manucurist’s Coral Reef is also gorgeous.
As for the lip… Rare Beauty doesn’t have a specific orange lip in their collection. The closest I can get you is their Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil Stain in the muted peach shade Joy, but we want matte. If you’re willing to exit Selenaland for a second, you can get close with Nars’ Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave, a bright orange with an aptly summery name.
