TikTok Made Me Try Beauty of Joseon's Dewy New Sunscreen

In the past, whenever I told someone I had yet to find a go-to sunscreen, they’d always excitedly recommend Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun. Everyone from TikTok influencers, to facialists, to impassioned friends sung the praises of the brand’s lightweight, invisible, non pore-clogging formula. Unfortunately, I waited too long, and never got to try the sunscreen before it was pulled from the brand’s U.S. site. (The sunscreen was totally safe, it just used more sophisticated filters not yet approved by the FDA).

Flash forward to now, and the brand is finally offering a replacement: meet Day Dew Sunscreen SPF 50. Ahead, everything you need to know about the July 17 launch, plus my honest review.

The Formula

Day Dew isn’t intended to be an exact replica of the famous Relief Sun, but instead is meant to honor the product’s legacy. “While keeping the beloved silky texture of the OG Relief Sun, Day Dew Sunscreen melts in faster and feels like your favorite moisturizer,” says the brand.

As the name suggests, Day Dew delivers an ultra-glowy finish alongside SPF 50 protection. The “skincare-first formula” has a lightweight texture, and is designed to layer without pilling or disturbing makeup. The chemical formula hydrates skin with hyaluronic acid. Niacinamide helps brighten and calm skin, while panthenol boots moisture and glow. Finally, rice extract hydrates and nourishes while soothing skin. The formula is water-resistant to maximize protection, but the brand recommends reapplying every two hours.

And there’s more exciting news! In tandem with the launch, the brand will be available at Sephora for the very first time. Starting July 17, you can shop the SPF, as well as 10 of the brand’s bestselling toners, serums, masks, and moisturizers.

My Review

Bella Cacciatore

I am very, very picky when it comes to sunscreen—so many break me out or really mess with my makeup. While I never got to try the viral Sun Relief sunscreen, I had high hopes that Day Dew would live up to the OG’s hype—and it did! Day Dew has an ultra light texture that sinks right in without adding heft or grease, but it leaves a gorgeous dewy finish behind. I typically run dry, even in the summer, but I’ve been using it in place of my go-to moisturizer, and my skin feel plump and bouncy with a noticeable glow. It plays really well with makeup, with no pilling, bunching, or sliding. There’s no obvious sunscreen smell, in fact, there’s no smell at all, and it doesn’t sting my sensitive eyes. If you’re a glowy girl like me, run, don’t walk.
